Goucher Women's Basketball Anise Williams Finishes Ranked In The Top-10 In The NCAA In Two Statistics
BALTIMORE, Md. – Anise Williams (West Palm Beach, Fla./The Benjamin School), a member of the Goucher College women's basketball team, finished in the Top-10 of two NCAA Division III statistical categories.
The sophomore ranked seventh in steals per game (3.84) and 10th in steals (95) to be the only women's basketball player to rank in the Top-10 in two categories from the Landmark Conference. It marks the second-straight year she has led the conference in both categories and ranked nationally after finishing 14th in steals per game (3.58) and 25th in steals (86) in her freshman campaign.
Williams also ranked nationally free throws and minutes played after ending 33rd for free throws attempted (168), 59th for free throws made (110) and 66th in minutes played per game (36.18). She ranked 85th in free throw attempts (145) last season.
Williams finished the season with 15.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game along with 96 steals, 68 assists and 15 rebounds. The 96 steals came within six thefts of Goucher women's basketball legend Renie Amoss' (102, 1992-93) single-season program record. In two seasons, she has registered 743 career points to rank 15th in program history.
Alayna McFadden (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) could be considered an iron women, ranking 12th in minutes played per game and 39th for minutes played. The sophomore also ranked in the Top-100 both categories as a freshman, finishing 39th in minutes played per game and 99th in minutes played.
McFadden averaged 14.0 points and 8.1 rebounds per game along with 37 steals, 30 assists and three blocks. For the second-straight year, McFadden and Williams ranked in the Top-10 in scoring in the Landmark Conference while McFadden finished third in the circuit in rebounds. The sophomore ranks 17th in program history in points with 684 career points and also has registered 401 rebounds after two seasons in Baltimore.
Kyani Quarles (Houston, Texas/Cristo Dey Rey) finished 60th for offensive rebounds per game (3.8). Quarles averaged 9.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in her freshman season and ranked fifth in the conference in rebounding.
