Gophers Wrap Up 2021-22 Campaign at Drew

MADISON, N.J. - The Goucher College women's basketball team wrapped up the 2021-22 season with an 80-49 loss at Drew University in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon.
- Goucher (1-21, 0-14 Landmark) trailed 6-3 following a basket by Belle Carini (Haddam, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth) at the 6:27 mark.
- Drew (16-7, 7-7) scored the next nine points before a basket by Kyani Quarles (Houston, Texas/Cristo Rey Jesuit) with just under three minutes left in the period.
- The Rangers owned a 22-8 lead after one quarter.
- Drew held the Gophers without a field goal for the first four-plus minutes of the quarter until a basket by Alayna McFadden (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) 5:29 before halftime.
- Briyah Haggins (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) knocked down a three with 3:56 on the clock.
- The hosts took a 40-16 lead into the locker room.
- Goucher opened the second half on a 12-2 run to pull within 42-28 with 6:28 left in the third on a three by McFadden.
- Carini had four points during the run as four different Gophers scored.
- Drew countered with an 11-2 spurt of its own to push the lead back to 23, 53-30, with 3:12 left.
- The Rangers led 59-34 entering the final period.
- Julia Cavoli (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) knocked down a jumper to open the second half.
- Quarles converted a conventional three-point play with 7:26 left.
- Drew closed the game on a 14-5 run.
- Carini led the Gophers in scoring for the fourth time this season with 12 points on 6-13 shooting.
- Quarles registered 10 points and six rebounds.
- Haggins notched eight points and handed out four assists.
- McFadden totaled six points and dished out a career-high seven assists in her final collegiate contest.
- Sydney Nwuli (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) added six points and seven rebounds off the bench.
- Goucher shot 32.8% overall, was 4-13 behind the arc and 5-10 at the free throw line.
- Drew shot 57.9% from the floor and was 2-10 from long range and 12-20 at the stripe.
- The Rangers held a 40-30 rebound advantage.
