Warriors Distance Themselves From Gophers in Third Quarter

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Lycoming College bounced back from a setback Wednesday evening with a 69-44 victory over visiting Goucher College in Landmark Conference women's basketball Saturday afternoon at Lamade Gymnasium.
- The lead changed hands four times in the opening quarter.
- Goucher (1-20, 1-13 Landmark) took an 11-10 lead midway through the quarter on a putback by Savannah Holmes.
- Lycoming (11-10, 5-9) scored the next six points to build a 16-11 lead with 1:21 left in the opening frame.
- The Warriors took an 18-14 lead into the first quarter break.
- The Warriors held the Gophers scoreless for the first five minutes of the second and went up 26-14.
- A Briyah Haggins jumper at the 4:59 mark snapped the Goucher drought.
- Lycoming took a 35-21 lead into halftime.
- Goucher opened the second half with eight straight points and a Merci Turner three with six minutes on the clock cut the lead to six, 35-29.
- The hosts responded with 12 consecutive points to build a 47-29 cushion with 3:03 to go in the third.
- A Julia Cavoli basket was Goucher's first in a nearly five-minute stretch at 1:17.
- Lycoming led 50-32 with 10 minutes left.
- Eight straight Lycoming points to open the second half made it a 58-32 game with 7:55 left.

- Darby Sherman scored a career-high 11 points for the second straight game, knocking down a pair of three pointers.

- Holmes grabbed a career-best 11 rebounds and added six points, while Brianna Johnson notched six points and eight boards.
- Goucher shot 24.3% for the game, was 5-24 behind the arc and 5-8 at the free throw line.
