Goucher Women's Golf Earns First Team Title In Program History At Elizabethtown Invitational
HERSHEY, Pa. - Christina Pevey (Post, Texas/Post) finished second to help the Goucher College women's golf team to its first team title in program history at the Elizabethtown Invitational on Thursday. The event also marked the head coaching debut of Cameron Hollek.
Pevey shot a round of 92 to finish in second place, one stroke behind the medalist. It has been 530 days since its last event in the fall of 2019, while the team earned its first win in program history that dates back to 1,298 days ago.
Emmie Starchvick (Jacksonville, Ore./South Medford) finished three strokes behind Pevey in third place after a round of 95. The senior played in her first round with the Blue and Gold since the 2018-19 season. She was studying abroad during the fall of 2019.
Starchvick's score proved to be the difference to help Goucher win its first team title over Catholic by one stroke. Both the Gophers and Cardinals' third and fourth golfers finished with the same score while Starchvick beat the Catholic's No. 2 player's score by two strokes to give Goucher 390 to 391 edge. Juniata finished third with a round of 455.
Emily Pochet (Royersford, Pa./Pennsylvania Leadership Charter) finished fifth with a round of 99, and Randi Marshall (La Quinta, Calif./Half Moon Bay) was eighth with a score of 104.
Hollek took over the program from his former college teammate and Goucher's first head coach in program history Hunter Brown in January. Hollek was on Brown's staff as an assistant coach for the first two seasons in program history.
The Gophers return to action at Drew on Monday.
