Sydney Lewis Nabs Landmark Defensive Honors for Second Time
TOWSON, Md. - For the second time this season, Goucher College women's lacrosse junior goalie Sydney Lewis has been named the Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Lewis, a resident of Reisterstown, Md. and a graduate of the Carver Center for Arts and Technology, stopped 18 of the 28 shots she faced in a 1-1 week for the Gophers. On Saturday in a 7-6 setback to Neumann, Lewis matched her season high with 14 saves. Lewis also made four saves in the game's first 39:20 in a 19-5 win over Notre Dame Maryland on Wednesday afternoon.
This season, Lewis has started all seven games for Goucher and registered 65 saves and a .464 save percentage. She ranks fourth in the Landmark Conference in save percentage, fifth in saves per game (9.29) and fifth in goals against average (11.35).
Goucher is back in action Saturday when it hosts Elizabethtown College to open Landmark play at 1 pm at Beldon Field.
