Gophers Edged by Rutgers Camden

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's soccer team was edged by visiting Rutgers-Camden 1-0 Wednesday night in non-conference action at Beldon Field. Gopher freshman goalie Jenna Abaza (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) made nine saves.
- Rutgers-Camden (3-6-1) rung the crossbar with a shot just under two minutes into the game.
- Caroline Altman (Las Vegas, Nev. / Adelson Educational Campus) had the first shot of the game for Goucher (4-6) in the ninth minute that was blocked.
- Abaza made her second save of the game just under 10 minutes in.
- The Scarlet Raptors had four shots in just over two minutes around the 20-minute mark with Abaza forced to make two saves.
- Alyson Petro scored for Rutgers-Camden with just over 20 minutes left in the first half, taking a feed from Lindsay Hernandez on a free kick.
- Abaza made three saves the remainder of the half.
- Taylor Urie (Simi Valley, Calif. / Simi Valley) pushed a shot wide with 1:12 left before halftime.
- Emma Yakim (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) put a shot on goal 40 seconds in for Goucher that was stopped by Kayla McKeever.
- Moments later, Claudia Roller (Tucson, Ariz. / Sahuaro) forced McKeever to make another stop.
- In the 68th minute, Altman delivered a strike from the top of the 18 that McKeever was able to corral.
- Two minutes later Yakim had an attempt that sailed wide.
- Abaza made her final save of the game in the 73rd minute.
- Rutgers Camden outshot Goucher 22-6.
- Abaza's nine saves were her fifth outing this season with at least nine stops.
- McKeever made three saves en route to the shutout.
- Yakim and Altman each had a pair of shots to pace Goucher.
- The Gophers host No. 22 and unbeaten and untied Scranton on Saturday for a 1 pm Landmark Conference contest on Beldon Field.
