Gophers Move to 4-0 For First Time Since 2012

IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Goucher College women's soccer team improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2012 with a 4-0 victory at Immaculata University Saturday afternoon. Senior Claudia Roller (Tucson, Ariz. / Sahuaro) netted two goals in the victory.
- Goucher (4-0) jumped on Immaculata (0-5) with two goals in the game's first seven minutes.
- 3:28 into the game, first year Jordan Wood (Baltimore, Md. / Sparrows Point) recorded her second goal in as many games. Wood put home a touch pass from Lexie Alvarado (Germantown, Md. / Seneca Valley) from the top of the 18 after a throw-in by Carly Stevens (Hampstead, Md./Hereford).
- In the seventh minute, the Gophers were awarded a penalty kick, which Roller buried for her first goal of the season.
- Just under two minutes later the Mighty Macs put their first shot on goal low that was saved by Goucher keeper Marissa Spacht (Marlton, Pa. / Garden Spot).
- In the 33rd minute Immaculata put a pair of shots on frame that Spacht turned aside.
- Spacht made another save with just over a minute left in the half to keep it 2-0.
- IU had the first shot of the second half just over five minutes in that was stopped by Spacht.
- In the 53rd minute, Roller raced down the left side, got past her defender and chipped a ball to the far right post from 12 yards out for her second goal of the game to make it 3-0.
- Just over nine minutes later Taylor Urie (Simi Valley, Calif./Simi Valley) put in a rebound off the IU keeper to make it 4-0.
- Goucher put two more shots on frame in the final five minutes but both were stopped by Mighty Mac keeper Emily Guthier.
- Spacht made eight saves en route to her third shutout of the season, while Guthier made a pair of saves.
- Both teams took 12 shots on the afternoon while Goucherhad two of the game's three corner kicks.
- Roller, Urie and Cassidy Scott (Quakertown, Pa. / William Penn Charter School) each had three shots for the Gophers.
- Goucher has allowed just one goal through its first four games.
- Goucher has a quick turnaround as it heads to Hood on Monday for a 7 pm contest.
- The Gophers return home next Saturday, September 17, hosting Cabrini for Senior Day at 3 pm at Beldon Field.
