Gophers Post Fourth Shutout of Season on Senior Day

TOWSON, Md. - Senior Claudia Roller (Tucson, Ariz./Sahuaro) netted the game's only goal on a penalty kick midway through the first half as the Goucher College women's soccer team posted its fourth shutout of the season on Senior Day in a 1-0 win over Cabrini Saturday at Beldon Field.
- Cabrini (3-2) put its first shot on goal in the 15th minute that was saved by Marissa Spacht (Marlton, Pa./Garden Spot).
- Spacht made another save in the 17th minute.
- Following a Cavalier foul in the box in the 22nd minute, Roller converted her second penalty kick of the season for her third goal to give Goucher a 1-0 lead.
- Cassidy Scott (Quakertown, Pa./William Penn Charter School) put a shot on goal with just under 15 minutes left that was saved by Caroline Hassall.
- The guests put two shots on goal in the final five minutes of the half that were saved by Spacht.
- Belle St. Jean (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) sent a header wide for the Gophers 2:44 into the second half.
- Spacht made another save in the 53rd minute.
- With just under 20 minutes left, Becca Maddox (Panama City, Fla./Port St. Joe) forced Hassall to make a save.
- Spacht made her final save of the game with 17:22 left.
- Cabrini outshot Goucher 11-6, with the Gophers taking five corner kicks to the Cavaliers' three.
- Spacht made seven saves en route to her fourth shutout of the season, while Hassall made a pair of stops.
- Goucher is 5-0 for the first time since 2012, when the Gophers won their first six games.
- Prior to the game, Goucher honored seniors Roller, Suzannah Block (Towson, Md./Roland Park Country School), Daniella Blitz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) and Finley Lindsey (Phoenix, Ariz./Hamilton).
- Goucher continues its homestand on Wednesday, hosting Alvernia at 7 pm at Beldon Field.
