Gophers Fall to Etown in Final Home Game

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's soccer team fell to Landmark foe Elizabethtown College Saturday October 21st in its final home game of the season 1-0.
- Goucher (3-5-7, 0-4-4) got the event started with a quick shot by Jordan Wood that sailed high.
- Nora Neall put the first shot on goal of the game at the 26.21 mark when her shot on cage was turned away by Blue Jay (4-8-3, 2-4-2) goalkeeper Adrienne McGallicher.
- With just over 28 minutes gone, Tatyana Jimenez put a shot on frame that was turned aside by McGallicher.
- Gopher goalkeeper Madison Gutierrez made her first stop of the game just past the 29-minute mark.
- The Gopher defense got stressed early in the second half by back to back corners by the Blue Jays as all shots were blocked before they could reach Gutierrez.
- It took until the 70th minute when a cross from Ashley Rosati found the feet of Maddie McWhinney for the first and only goal of the game.
- Jimenez helped Gutierrez with a defensive save at the 74-minute mark.
- Elizabethtown outshot the Gophers 19-6 and took seven corner kicks to the Gophers' four.
- Gutierrez notched six saves on the afternoon while McGallicher made two saves en route to the shutout.
- Carly Stevens led Goucher with a pair of shots.
- Goucher hits the road Wednesday, traveling to Lancaster Bible for a 7 pm contest with the Chargers.
- The Gophers close out the regular season next Saturday with a 3:30 pm contest at Wilkes.
