SCRANTON, PA - The Goucher College Gophers (0-2-0) traveled to face the Marywood University Pacers (2-0-0) in a non-conference matchup. The Pacers strong offense led to a dominant 10-1 win.
The Pacers scored four goals in the first half to take the lead over the Gophers, with the first goal coming at the 6:48 mark. The second was scored ten minutes later. Carly Walters of the Pacers rounded our the first half with a hat-trick at the 22:21 mark.
Five minutes into the second half Walters added her fourth to bring the Pacers up 5-0. Two goals came minutes apart for Marywood, adding to their lead. The Pacers final goal came at with 20 minutes left in the game.
Senior Becca Maddox scored the lone goal for the Gophers with just under ten minutes left in the game.
Goalie Nia George faced fourteen shots on net, resulting in four saves. Marywood outshot the Gophers 28-4, and had six courner kicks in the contest.
The Gophers return home to face Marymount (Va.) in their Faculty/Staff Appreciation Game on Wednesday, September 3rd at 4pm.
