Yellow Jackets Hold Off Gophers 5-4

ASHLAND, Va. - The Goucher College women's tennis team won four of six singles matches, but Randolph-Macon College swept doubles as it held off the Gophers for a 5-4 non-conference victory on Saturday afternoon at the Banks Tennis Center.
- RMC (5-1) took all three doubles matchups against Goucher (3-3).
- Meline Siggen and Eliza Abady dropped an 8-6 decision at No. 2.
- At No. 3, Aaliyah Ybarra and Shelby Meek battled before falling 8-6.
- Lucy Ingraham picked up Goucher's first point with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4.
- Meek was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 5.
- Abady pulled out a 1-6, 6-2, 10-8 win at No. 3 to tie the match 3-3.
- At No. 1, Natalia Navarro took the first set 6-2 before dropping her match 2-6, 6-1, 10-8.
- Siggen tied the match 4-4 with a 6-3, 6-3 win in her first match of the spring at No. 2.
- The Yellow Jackets took No. 6 singles to take down the match.
- Siggen won her third straight singles match and moved to 4-2 on the season.
- Meek also won her third in a row and is now 3-0 this season.
- Ingraham won her second straight match.
- Goucher returns to action Wednesday when it travels to Methodist for a 3:30 match.
