Blazek Leads Goucher Track And Field At Susquehanna Challenge
SELINGROVE, Pa. – Gabby Blazek (New Orleans, La./Louise S. McGehee) paced the Goucher College track and field team with a sixth-place finish in the pole vault at the Susquehanna University Challenge on Saturday.
Blazek finished sixth overall and third among NCAA Division III participants with a jump of 2.90m. The leap ties her personal best and the second-best in school history.
Taylor Gunter (Laurel, Md./Sandy Springs Frields School) placed 16th in the weight throw (12.11m), Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) was 19th in the 60-meter dash (8.81) and MiKayla Hinnant (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) finished 20th in the shot put (9.72m). Laila Hanson rounded out the women's Top-20 finishers with a 20th-place finish in the 3000-meter run (12:20.23) in her first time running the distance race.
Sydney Smith (Falls Church, Va./George Mason HS) (23rd place, 29.57) participated in the 200-meter dash and Hannah Brogan (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) (31st place, 13:18.38) in the 3000-meter run.
Langston Henry (New York, N.Y./Grace Church School) led the Gopher men after finishing 17th in the 200-meter run (24.71).
Joel Gladney (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) (29th place, 10.49m) competed in the shot put, Brandon Julot (Baltimore, Md./The SEED School of Maryland) (33rd place, 9.69m) the weight throw, Kai Miller (Harlem, N.Y.) (41st place, 26.42) the 200-meter dash and Joseph Rhodenhiser (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) (49th place, 2:22.18) the 800-meter run.
Goucher College returns to action on Saturday with the throwers going to Albright College while the rest of the team will head to Hagerstown Community College on February 10.
