Gabby Blazek paced the Goucher College track and field team with a sixth-place finish in the pole vault at the Susquehanna University Challenge on February 2. Blazek finished sixth overall and third among NCAA Division III participants with a jump of 2.90m. The leap ties her personal best and the second-best in school history.
Taylor Gunter (Laurel, Md./Sandy Springs Frields School) placed 16th in the weight throw (12.11m), Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) was 19th in the 60-meter dash (8.81) and MiKayla Hinnant (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) finished 20th in the shot put (9.72m). Laila Hanson rounded out the women's Top-20 finishers with a 20th-place finish in the 3000-meter run (12:20.23) in her first time running the distance race.
Sydney Smith (23rd place, 29.57) participated in the 200-meter dash and Hannah Brogan (31st place, 13:18.38) in the 3000-meter run.
Langston Henry led the Gopher men after finishing 17th in the 200-meter run (24.71).
Joel Gladney (29th place, 10.49m) competed in the shot put, Brandon Julot (33rd place, 9.69m) the weight throw, Kai Miller (41st place, 26.42) the 200-meter dash and Joseph Rhodenhiser (49th place, 2:22.18) the 800-meter run.
THE UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Goucher will head back to Susquehanna University for one last tune up for the indoor championships at the Susquehanna University Invitational on February 16.
The Gophers will then return to Selingrove, Pa., for the Landmark Conference Championships on February 23.
