Blazek And Gunter Record Top-10 Finishes At The Susquehanna University Invitational
SELINGROVE, Pa. – Gabby Blazek (New Orleans, Na./Louise S McGehee) finished third in the pole vault to pace the Goucher College track and field team at the Susquehanna University Invitational on Saturday.
Blazek was able to clear a height of 2.91m to place third in the pole vault and move into second place on the program's all-time indoor list.
Taylor Gunter (Laurel, Md./Sandy Springs Friends School) finished sixth in the shot put with a distance of 11.27m. Gunter established a career-high toss in the event and ties the 10th-best mark in team history.
The women's 4x200 relay team of Sydney Smith (Falls Church, Va./George Mason HS), Blazek, Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) and Enid Swatson (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Oakwood Friends School) finished eighth (4:44.39) while the quartet also placed 12th in the 4x200-meter relay (1:58.06).
Gallina also finished 18th in the 60-meter dash (8.53) and set a new personal-best time.
One week after setting the program record in the weight throw, Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyerstown Area) paced the men's side with a 12th-place finish in the event with a hurl of 12.80m. Brandon Julot (Baltimore, Md./The SEED School of Maryland) finished 22nd in the event (10.76m).
Miles (Mia) Taylor (Bowie, Md./Wakefield) placed 21st in the 60-meter hurdles (10.38) with a new season-best time while Langston Henry (New York, N.Y./Grace Church School) was 42nd in the 400-meter dash (1:01.83).
Goucher will return to Selingrove, Pa., for the Landmark Conference Track And Field Championships on Saturday, February 23.
