Natalie Kent Paces Women’s Track & Field at Messiah Invitational
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Natalie Kent (Media, Pa.) once again had a big day for the Goucher women’s track & field team on Saturday, as the Gophers took part in the Messiah Invitational.
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Natalie Kent (Media, Pa.) once again had a big day for the Goucher women's track & field team on Saturday, as the Gophers took part in the Messiah Invitational.
On the day, Kent had the highest finish of the day for either the women's or men's team in an event for Goucher, as she placed second in the shot put with an effort of 38 feet, 1.25 inches. The mark in the event was the third best in outdoor program history.
Elsewhere, the 4x100 relay team of Kent, first-year Kennedy Lowery (Baltimore, Md.), and sophomores Gabby Blazek (New Orleans, La.) and Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa.) finished sixth in a season-low time of 52.69. Gallina also had a high finish in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 13.39.
Rounding out the top performances for the Gophers was sophomore Taylor Gunter (Laurel, Md.), who had a personal best throw of 129 feet in the hammer throw to finish ninth overall. Gunter also placed 12th in the shot put with an effort of 35 feet, 1.75 inches.
The Goucher College women's track & field team returns to action on Saturday, as they head to Gettysburg for the Mason-Dixon Track & Field Invitational.
