BALTIMORE, Md. – Goucher had to go five sets to defeat Notre Dame (Md.) the first time the two teams met this season back on September 18. In tonight's rematch, the Gophers accomplished their mission in two fewer sets, winning 3-0.
Set scores were 25-17, 25-18, 25-23.
Megan Smith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Long Beach Polytechnic) supplied the Gophers (13-14) with 16 kills, the seventh time this season she's recorded at least 16 kills in a match. The junior outside hitter also finished with a team-high 12 digs.
Questina Johnson (Parkville, Md./Parkville) and Carolyn Crissey (Philadelphia, Pa./Creative & Performing Arts) both contributed six kills to the victory.
Claire Sauvage-Mar (New Delhi, India/American Embassy School) set up a majority of Goucher's 39 kills as she was credited with 32 assists, her second-highest total for a three-set match this season.
The Gators (9-6) registered a .012 team hitting percentage for the match.
