Set scores were 25-23, 25-22, 25-5.
In the decisive third set, the Cardinals (25-8) registered 10 kills and committed only one hitting error in 23 attempts for a .391 attack percentage, which raised their attack percentage for the match to .208. The Gophers (11-24), on the other hand, had only two kills and made five hitting errors in 23 attampts (-.130), which lowered their attack percentage for the match to .079.
Leaders for Goucher were sophomore outside hitter Megan Chalk (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) with seven kills, sophomore setter Tori Rain (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) with 17 assists, junior libero Ashley Fan (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) with 28 digs and sophomore middle hitter Trish Kallis (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) with four blocks.
Claudia Jean and Kelly Crimmins supplied Catholic, which advances in the tournament to face second-seeded Susquehanna in the semifinals on Saturday, with nine kills apiece.
