Volleyball’s Emily Sorrells And Field Hockey’s Jaime Roche Named Scholar-Athletes Of The Week
Each week in the fall we will name two Scholar-Athletes of the Week for their excellent work in the classroom. The second achievers for this feature are volleyball senior Emily Sorrells (Annapolis, Md. / South River) and field hockey junior Jaime Roche (Baltimore, Md. / Eastern Technical).
Sorrells, a double major in elementary education and Spanish, holds a 3.92 grade-point average and was named to the Landmark Conference Honor Roll in her sophomore and junior campaigns. As a freshman, Sorrells soared by posting 74 kills in her 23 matches after making her Goucher debut against Cabrini on September 1, 2017. Sorrells went on to record 138 kills in 29 games in the next season. She upped the ante in 2019 when Sorrells posted a career-best 163 kills, including a season-best 12 kills against McDaniel on September 12 and Gwynedd Mercy on September 27.
