Goucher Women's Volleyball Earns USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Goucher College women's volleyball team has been named to the United State Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 season.
"I am so proud of this team for earning the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for 2020-2021!" said Goucher women's volleyball head coach Maggie Catherina. "Through every hardship thrown their way this year they have managed to stay positive, work hard and make the best of every situation!"
Goucher boasted a 3.56 grade-point average to be among the 1,275 collegiate and high school teams to earn the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2020-2021 season.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale. The Gophers also received the recognition for the 2011 season.
