NEWVILLE, Pa. — Goucher wrapped up its season at the 2014 NCAA D-III Mideast Regional Championships this morning, with a personal record-performance from Camille Jorgensen (San Diego, Calif./Patrick Henry) serving as the race highlight for the Gophers.
Jorgensen completed the 6K race in 25:23.90, a time which was the fastest by a Goucher female this season and which was 16 seconds faster than her previous top result at that distance. Today, it was good enough to place her 172nd out of a field of 370 runners.
Anna Sandacz (Jessup, Md./Annapolis Area Christian School) was next up for the Gophers, crossing the finish line in 25:55.40, putting her in 208th place. Amanda Tascarella (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) followed in 230th at 26:22.10, while Zoe Malkin (Watchung, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) rounded things out with a time of 28:52.20 which slotted her in at 325th place.
With four runners competing, Goucher fell one short of being able to qualify for a team score.
Sophia Meehan from Johns Hopkins took first place at the event, which was hosted by Dickinson. She finished in 21:18.00, 36 seconds ahead of her teammate Bridget Gottlieb. The Blue Jays had four of the top seven finishers overall, and they cruised to a convincing team victory at the meet.
