Bio

John Caslin is into his second decade as the head coach of Goucher’s cross country programs. In addition, he serves as the school’s head track and field coach.

During Caslin's tenure as head coach, three individuals have represented Goucher at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship. The first was Jeff Olenick, who competed in Boston in 1997 and again in Spokane, Wash., in 2000 where he earned Division III All-America honors by finishing in ninth place. The second was Fraley Coles who represented Goucher in St. Olaf, Minn., in 2007. In 2011, Joey Negreann became the second male runner from Goucher to compete at the NCAA Championships, which were held that year in Winneconne, Wisc.

On four occasions while Goucher was a member of the Capital Athletic Conference, Caslin produced the Male Cross Country Runner of the Year, and once in the CAC and another time since the school's intercollegiate athletic program joined the Landmark Conference in 2007, two of his female cross country runners have been selected Rookie of the Year.

Academically, Caslin’s runners have performed admirably: 42 have attained national All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross County Coaches Association.

Caslin was a successful coach at both Ursuline Academy in Delaware and Chantilly High School in Virginia prior to his arrival at Goucher. He and his wife Rose are the parents of three children.
