Gophers maintain lead in Zone IV Region I Standings

The Gophers traveled to Towson University this weekend for their second IHSA show of the regular season. Of the twelve teams in Zone IV Region I, Goucher won reserve champion high point team honors with 33 points, being bested by George Washington University with 38.

The team was led by sophomore Wren Wakeman (Addison, Maine / Washington Academy) and first year Courtney Sloan (Annandale, Va. / W.T. Woodson) who each placed first in Walk Trot Canter and Intermediate fences, respectively.
Second place performances were made by junior Cary Hundley (Ellicott City, Md. / Marriotts Ridge) in Open fences, junior Clea Lerner (Los Angeles, Calif. / Renaissance Arts Academy) in Novice fences, sophomore Alessandra D’Amour (Pennington, N.J. / The Pennington School ) in Novice flat and first year Rena DiPaula (Westminster, Md. / Institute of Notre Dame) in Novice flat.
Hundley is currently leading the Cacchione Standings in Zone IV Region I with 22 points. Nipping at her heels is first year John Porter (Somers, Conn. / Somers) with 14.
Several Gophers have also already qualified for Zone IV Region I Finals in March. Senior Alison Radgowski (Northport, N.Y. / Northport) has qualified in Intermediate flat, senior Sarah Lummis (Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill) in Walk Trot Canter, and Lerner in Novice fences.
The Gophers will look to lengthen their lead this Saturday, October 22nd at home.
