Blue Jays Hold Their Lead Against the Gophers

Towson Md.- The Goucher Gophers (3-11 overall, 2-5 Landmark) take on the Blue Jays of Elizabethtown College (6-8 overall, 3-4 Landmark), at home in the Decker Sports and Recreation Center, in this close confrence match-up. The Blue Jay's secured their 77-72 win. 

• Jadyss Fifer made the first goal for the Gophers in the first minute.
• The Blue Jays go on a 6 point scoring run that was stopped Darnell Morris Jr.
• The Gophers ty the game with a layup by David Nwankwo.
• Elizabethtown ends the half with the lead 42-38.

• Morris Jr. starts the half scoring a 2-pointer in the first minute. 
• Jayden Saunders and Avree Harris score back-to-back goals chipping at the Blue Jay's lead with (12:54) remaining.
• Both teams have a scoring stalemate until Harris makes a 2-pointer with (3:34) remaining.
• Alex Miller and Morris Jr. conclude the half with a layup and 3-point shot. 
• The Blue Jay's maintain their lead through the half winning 77-72.

• Morris Jr. was the lead scorer with 15 points and collected eight rebounds. 
• Saunders and Harris tied for second highest point scorers with 13 each. Harris collected five rebounds and one steal. Saunders completed three assists and collected four steals.
• Goucher shot 49% overall, and went 7-12 beyond the arc. Gophers forced 23 turnovers resulting in 13 points. 
• Elizabethtown shot 47.8%overall, and went 4-20 beyond the arc. The Blue Jays forced 11 turnovers resulting in 19 points. 

• The Gophers will return to action on Saturday, January 18th. The confrence match-up starts at 4pm at Lycoming College. The next time they will be home is Saturday, January 25 against Drew University. That confrence match-up game will start at 4pm.
