Landmark Reveals Academic Honor Roll for Fall 2015

TOWSON, Md. — The Landmark Conference, which is in its ninth year of competition, today recognized 380 student-athletes for their academic accomplishments by placing them on the Fall 2015 Academic Honor Roll. Forty-six of the honorees are from Goucher.

Freshman GK Earns Spot on All-Landmark Team

TOWSON, Md. — Daniel Hendry (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) became only the fourth goalkeeper in the 27-year history of Goucher's men's soccer program to earn all-conference honors when the 2015 All-Landmark Conference Men's Soccer Team was released this morning.

Crusaders Wreck Gophers' Chance of Making Playoffs

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Every game has sort of been a playoff game for Goucher since head coach Bryan Laut's squad got off to an 0-3 start this season in the Landmark Conference. The Gophers kept themselves in the chase for a berth in next month's postseason tournament by beating three of the four conference opponents they've faced the past three weeks — and needed a win over Susquehanna this afternoon and a little help in order to return to the tournament for a second year in a row.

Gophers Catch Eagles on Rebound, Suffer 2-0 Loss

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. — Goucher ran into an opponent this afternoon that made it through the first 15 games of the season undefeated and was still smarting from a 1-0 loss to Wilkes just three days ago. A pair of goals midway through the first half is all that Eastern could manage, but they were enough for lift the Eagles past the Gophers, 2-0.

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher put forth the effort against Elizabethtown tonight one would expect out of a team that needs to pass at least four other teams in the Landmark Conference standings by the end of the regular season in order to earn a spot in the conference's postseason tournament.

Gophers Score First, Shoremen Answer with Three

TOWSON, Md. — For the first time all season, Goucher lost when it scored the first goal of a game. Andrew Marcantonio (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) provided the Gophers with a 1-0 lead over Washington (Md.) when he tallied his first goal of the season in the 38th minute, but the Shoremen responded with three goals in the second half to pull out a 3-1 victory.

TOWSON, Md. — A junior midfielder on the field hockey team who scored as many goals in the first eight games of the season as Goucher's opponents did and a sophomore defender on the men's soccer team who ended the month with a two-goal performance against Cairn were chosen as the Male and Female Gophers of the Month for September.

Huge Plays at Both Ends Lead to 1-0 Win Over Royals

TOWSON, Md. — The goal Goucher scored to earn a 1-0 Landmark Conference victory over Scranton today was the result of contributions from at least three different players. But that goal might not have been as important in the outcome had sophomore Scott Mt. Pleasant (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) not made a magnificent defensive play in the eighth minute or freshman goalkeeper Daniel Hendry (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) not turned in a six-save performance.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Goucher returned to the scene of its gallant performance against Catholic in the semifinals of the 2014 Landmark Conference playoffs today. The Gophers stayed within a goal of the Cardinals until the 85th minute, but suffered a 3-nil setback.

READING, Pa. — Goucher trailed Alvernia, 3-nil, after 45 minutes and it didn't get any better in the second half for the Gophers as they were beaten by the Crusaders, 5-nil, this afternoon.

Gophers Separate from Highlanders in Second Half

TOWSON, Md. — Two goals scored in a span of 52 seconds early in the second half turned a slim 1-0 lead for Goucher into a robust three-goal advantage and the Gophers went on to claim their third non-conference victory of the season today by beating Cairn, 5-1, on Beldon Field.

Hendry Stops PK in 49' in 2-0 Loss to Mariners

TOWSON, Md. — One of the three saves Goucher's Daniel Hendry (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) made in the first half of today's game against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy was on a shot by Gavin Yingling. The freshman goalkeeper also turned away a penalty kick by the leading scorer in the Landmark Conference in the 49th minute to keep the contest scoreless.
