Bio

Snyder came to Goucher from Queen Anne’s County High School in Centreville, MD. When she first stepped on campus, a year after Goucher led Division III in goals per game (17.0), coach Kara Carlin stated, “Ashley has a tremendous knowledge of the game of lacrosse, and the speed and endurance to match. We think she is ready to make an immediate and huge difference on our team.”

Carlin was not mistaken, as Snyder went on to start 16-of-17 games for the preseason nationally ranked #16 Goucher Gophers. She went on to produce a team-high 30 goals while adding four assists, 22 ground balls and 18 draw controls. The tenacious attack player scored in all but three games during her freshman campaign, including a season-high five goals against Catholic University. The Gophers ended the season with an 8-9 (CAC 1-4) record.

In 2003 Snyder tallied 37 goals and 10 assists for a total of 47 points. The Gophers season ended in the CAC quarterfinals with a 17-9 loss to Marymount on the road. Overall, Goucher finished 6-10 (CAC 1-4) despite 87 goals from Snyder and teammate Kate Howell.

The Gophers improved their record in 2004, finishing 12-5 overall and 3-2 in CAC play. Snyder was an essential member of the team scoring 54 goals while dishing out 18 assists. She notched her career-high during the 2004 season with a seven-goal performance against Randolph-Macon, a game in which she also scored her 100th career goal. However, her impact did not remain on one end of the field, as she caused 23 turnovers to accompany 71 groundballs and 65 draw controls. When the 2004 season came to a close, Snyder ranked 14th in the nation with 3.82 draw controls per game. The Gophers advanced to the CAC semifinal, where they fell to St. Mary’s (MD).

Snyder’s senior season was also her best season. She recorded a team-high 65 goals and 13 assists for a total of 78 points. She ranked 10th in the nation in goals per game (4.06) and 20th in the nation in points per game (4.88). The Gophers went on to defeat #13 St. Mary’s (MD) 7-6 and #19 Catholic 15-14 where Snyder netted a combined three goals. She also went on unleash three goals against #1 Salisbury in a 16-8 loss during the CAC championship game.

In 2004 Snyder earned First Team All-Region and First Team All-CAC honors. For her efforts in 2005, Snyder earned First Team All-American honors – the fourth Goucher women’s lacrosse player to do so. She was also named First Team All-Region and First Team All-CAC in 2005. The attack player from Millington, MD currently sits sixth all-time in scoring (186), fourth in draw controls (173) and fifth in career points (231). She also holds the single-season ground ball record with 71 during the 2004 season.
