Bio

Weld was a three-sport athlete for Goucher from 1967-70, playing field hockey, women's basketball, and women's lacrosse. She also played for the United States Reserve (1969), United States Touring (1970), and the United States National (1971-74) women's lacrosse teams. She was also a member of the 1973 United States Field Hockey Reserve. In addition, she coached the Goucher field hockey team in 1973 and 1974 and posted a 7-2 record in her first season, the best-known team record to that date. She also was the women's lacrosse head coach in 1974 and 1975 for the Gophers.

"I am very grateful to Goucher for reaching back into the past to recognize an important part of my life, a time that was enlivened by the challenge and camaraderie of sports," said Weld. "It was one of the most important aspects of my college experience. But even more than that, I am grateful that Goucher  now recognizes and honors women's athletics as well as it does. I was a participant when women in sports were not taken seriously, so perhaps the most meaningful aspect of this honor for me is to recognize and appreciate all that has grown and changed at the College. My congratulations go to all those who have made Goucher athletics what it is today and to those who will keep it growing into the future."
