Gopher Golf Teams Swing Back Into Action
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's and women's golf teams are back in action this weekend when they travel to the Virginia Wesleyan Marlin Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Cypress Point Country Club in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The Gopher men's golf B team competes at Eastern University's Spring Invitational on Thursday.
Goucher's men's team competed six times in the fall, culminating in a second-place finish at the Landmark Conference Preview at Woodholme Country Club in Pikesville in October. The Gophers tied with Scranton for the top spot with a score of 331 but were placed second due to tiebreakers. Goucher will host the 2022 Landmark Conference Championship at Woodholme on April 15-16.
Khai Buttner (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin) posted a team-low 78.1 stroke average in the fall, while Jose Maria Gallegos (Ahome, Mexico/Montverde Academy) was second on the team with a 79.9. Both Buttner and Gallegos posted low rounds of 74 in the fall.
Goucher's men have three seniors on the roster in Nick Fisher (Fishers, Ind./Fishers), Tomas Rodriguez (Richmond, Texas/George Bush) and Kaman Wilkinson (Granbury, Texas/Godley).
The Goucher women, who will compete at the Landmark Conference Championship April 23-24, are led by a pair of juniors in Randi Marshall (La Quinta, Calif./Half Moon Bay) and Grace Klain (Yerrington, Nev./Nevada Connections Academy).
Marshall posted an average of 95.2 in the fall.
