Jan Jedlicka to Serve as Associate Head Coach for Golf Programs
TOWSON, Md. – Goucher College Director of Athletics and Associate Dean of Students Andrew Wu announced Tuesday that Jan Jedlicka, who has spent the last two years as the graduate assistant for the Goucher men's and women's golf programs and served as both programs' acting head coach this past season, will remain with the golf program as the associate head coach for both programs. A national search for a permanent head coach for both programs will begin immediately.
"I can't say enough about the fantastic job Jan over the past two years with a completely unexpected set of circumstances. I'm also excited for him to be staying with us and stepping into the coaching experience that he's looking for, focusing on golf instruction and working with students, rather than balancing the broad range of expectations placed on head coaches," said Wu of Jedlicka. "I'm extremely grateful for his commitment and passion for the sport and know that our students will be thrilled to continue working with him."
"I am thrilled to continue working with the Goucher golf program next year! I am grateful for the experience with college coaching that I got here during the last two years, which helped me clarify where I want to take my career in golf performance and fitness coaching," said Jedlicka. "My new role will allow me to focus on directly coaching our student-athletes on the golf course and in the weight room. I will be able to provide the best value to help our golfers develop - and I am excited to see both teams continue to grow and improve!"
Jedlicka led both programs this season as they competed in their first full seasons since 2018-19. On the men's side, Goucher had a pair of All-Landmark Conference performers in Jose Maria Gallegos and Khai Buttner, with both players also earning Landmark weekly honors during the season. Goucher hosted the Landmark Conference Championship at Woodholme Country Club with Jedlicka handling much of the administration of the tournament. The Gopher women placed fifth at the Landmark Championship.
In Jedlicka's first season as an assistant (2020-21), the women's golf program had three All-Conference First Team performers.
The Goucher men's and women's golf programs both enter their sixth seasons in 2022-23. The Gopher men captured Landmark Conference titles in 2018, 2019 and 2020 and made NCAA appearances in 2018 and 2019.
