Bio

Greg Royce was named Director of Athletic Communications at Goucher in September, 2021 and was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Operations in February, 2024.

Royce brings over 20 years of athletic communications experience to Goucher.  Prior to joining the Gophers, he spent six years as an Associate Athletic Director and Director of Athletic Communications at Stevenson University.

At Stevenson, Royce oversaw athletic communications efforts for 28 NCAA Division III varsity programs, including media relations, gameday functions, social media, the website (gomustangsports.com), publications and live event video production.  He was also a member of the department's senior staff and had administrative oversight of the men's and women's track and field and cross country programs.

Stevenson was the first NCAA Division III school to have its own Roku channel when it launched in November, 2016.  The athletic communications office produced live streams for over 150 home events annually, while it developed one of the most robust and fastest-growing social media followings in the Middle Atlantic Conference.  Stevenson's athletic communications office was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) three times for its coverage of the Mustang men's and women's volleyball programs over the past four years.

Prior to his stint at Stevenson, Royce served his alma mater, Southern New Hampshire University, for eight years as its Director of Athletics Communications.  During his tenure, SNHU played host to a number of NCAA and Northeast-10 Championship events, and three teams won Division II regional championships, including a national championship in men's soccer in 2013.  Several interns and student employees went on to careers in the athletics communications field following graduation.

Royce served as Sports Information Director at American International College in Springfield, Mass. from 2004-07, working with 22 varsity programs, including Division I men's ice hockey. From 2000-03 Royce worked in the Athletic Media Relations office at the University of New Hampshire, working with all 24 of UNH's Division I sports while serving as the primary contact for women's basketball, men's soccer, track and field and gymnastics.

A two-time graduate of SNHU, Royce earned his bachelor's in Sport Management at then-New Hampshire College in 2000 before going on to receive his master's in Sport Management in 2016.

An active member of College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) and EAST-COMM (formerly ECAC-SIDA), Royce served as EAST-COMM President in 2021-22 as well as co-chair of the 2022 EAST-COMM workshop in Ellicott City, Maryland.  He is also a member of the CSC Stabley Writing Contest Committee and has presented at numerous CoSIDA and EAST-COMM workshops. Royce is the current chair of the Landmark Conference athletic communications committee.

In addition to his work at Goucher, Royce is a member of the NFL's Game Statistics Information Service (GSIS) gameday crew for the Baltimore Ravens and has served as a statistician for the Athletes Unlimited women's professional lacrosse league the past two summers.  He also serves as an official scorer for the Atlantic League's Spire City Ghost Hounds and the Frederick Keys of the MLB Draft League.

He resides in Owings Mills with his wife Cathy.
