Jackson, Taylor Take High Point Rider Honors, Gophers Earn High Point Honors For Second Straight Show
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College equestrian team took High Point honors at its second IHSA home show of the season on Saturday, buoyed by a pair of riders taking high point honors and eight first place finishes. The Gophers took first with a total of 44 points. University of Maryland was the Reserve High Point winner with 24 points.
Through the first two shows of the season, Goucher sits first in the IHSA Region I standings with 89 points. George Mason sits second with 55, while George Washington is third with 47.
Cole Jackson (Denver, Colo. / East) took down High Point Rider honors for the second straight event. He placed first in open flat and second in open fences.
Halle Taylor (Dakar, Senegal / International School of Dakar) finished first in limit flat and third in limit fences and was the Reserve High Point Rider. Taylor finished tied with Hunter Spillan of Georgetown but prevailed in a "ride off".
Cordelia Edwards (Los Angeles, Calif. / Immaculate Heart) placed first in intermediate fences, while Kellen Sullivan (Hampton, Va. / Donald Sullivan) finished first in intermediate flat.
Makaylin Shoop (Davidsonville, Md. / South River) finished first in limit fences. Sarah Schultheis (Sterling, Va. / Potomac Falls) and Celeste Fazioli (Seabrook, Texas / Clear Falls) were each first in limit flat.
Kaia Shula (Lafayette Hill, Pa. / Plymouth Whitemarsh) placed first in novice flat.
Juliette Colas (Paris, France / Ecole Planchat) was second in limit flat while Claire Edwards (Kailua, Hawaii / Le Jardin Academy) placed fourth.
Lexi Mason (Lothian, Md. / Southern) placed fourth in novice flat, while Nicholas Arrighetti (Alexandria, Va. / Edmund Burke School) was third in intro flat.
Goucher is back in action next Saturday when it competes in the IHSA show hosted by American University and the University of Maryland at Springhill Stables in Burtonsville, Md.
