Equestrian Finishes First For Fourth Straight Show
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College equestrian team finished first for the fourth straight show on Saturday, taking first place at its second home IHSA show of the fall with 41 points, outdistancing reserve champion American University by 10. The win extends Goucher's lead in the Zone IV, Region I standings to 37 points.
Goucher had a total of four riders qualify for regional championships. Cole Jackson (Denver, Colo./East) qualified in Open Flat and Open Fences after finishing first in Open Fences and second in Open Flat. Makaylin Shoop (Davidsonville, Md./South River) qualified in Limit Flat.
Sarah Schultheis (Sterling, Va. / Potomac Falls) qualified in Limit Flat after finishing first. She also recorded a fourth place finish in Limit Fences. Lexi Mason (Lothian, Md./Southern) was the fourth Goucher qualifier in Novice Flat after finishing first.
Elsa Sellmeyer (Silver Spring, Md.) took first place in Intermediate Flat. Lily L'Oiseau (Hamilton, N.J./The Hun School) was second in Intro, while Hayley Anderson (Wayne, Ill./South Elgin) was fourth in Intermediate Fences.
Goucher closes out the fall IHSA show schedule Sunday when it competes at the Maryland/Towson show at Meadowbrook Stables in Chevy Chase, Md.
