Jackson High Point Rider, Equestrian Completes Weekend Sweep
CHEVY CHASE, Md. - The Goucher College equestrian team completed a weekend sweep by taking first place at the IHSA show hosted by the University of Maryland on Sunday. The Gophers accumulated 45 points to take first. George Mason finished second with 34 points on the day.
Cole Jackson (Denver, Colo./East) finished as the show's High Point Rider as he took first place in both Open Flat and Open Fences.
Sarah Schultheis (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) qualified for IHSA regionals with a first place finish in Limit Fences. Juliette Colas (Paris, France / Ecole Planchat) also qualified for IHSA regionals in Limit Flat with a second place showing.
Makaylin Shoop (Davidsonville, Md./South River) placed first in Intermediate Flat and second in Intermediate Fences. Jacob Connell (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) took home first in Limit Flat.
Elise Simon (Washington, D.C. / Georgetown Visitation Prep) placed second in Novice Flat, while Rhyan Orenstein (Bayside, Wisc. / Pathways) was second in Pre-Novice Flat. Morgan Kingsbury (Wentworth, N.H./Plymouth Regional) was second in Intro.
Goucher equestrian is back in action on Saturday, December 3 when it competes in the Holiday Classic Tournament of Champions hosted by Virginia Tech.
