Jackson, Schultheis Earn Reserve Champion Honors at Winter Classic Tournament of Champions
HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - Cole Jackson (Denver, Colo./East) and Sarah Schultheis (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) of the Goucher College equestrian team took Reserve Champion honors in the High Collegiate Medal and Low Collegiate Medal, respectively, as the Gophers competed at the Winter Classic Tournament of Champions Saturday hosted by Savannah College of Art and Design.
The Tournament of Champions series is an invitation-only series of events comprised of championship teams from the previous season.
Jackson placed in the High Collegiate Medal at a Tournament of Champions event for the second time this season, as he won the competition at the Pre-Season Tournament of Champions in October. The Collegiate Medal is contested on the flat and over fences.
Jackson also finished thirs in Open Fences. Kristen Wilhelm (Columbia, Md./Liberty) was third in Novice Flat.
Morgan Kingsbury (Wentworth, N.H./Plymouth Regional) placed fourth in Intro, with Jacob Connell (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) taking fifth in both Limit Flat and Limit Fences. Kellen Sullivan (Hampton, Va./Donald Sullivan) was fifth in Limit Flat.
Goucher returns to IHSA competition on Sunday, February 19 when it competes in the IHSA show hosted by the University of Maryland at Meadowbrook Stables in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
