Equestrian Clinches 12th Straight Zone IV, Region I Title Saturday
BURTONSVILLE, Md. - The Goucher College equestrian team clinched the 2024 IHSA Zone IV, Region I championship on Saturday at the IHSA show hosted by the University of Maryland at The Other Left. The Gophers topped a field of 10 teams with 44 points, with host Maryland earning Reserve Champion honors with 25 points.
The Gophers wrapped up the Region I title with one regular season show remaining. It marks Goucher's 12th straight regional crown dating back to 2012 and the 15th in program history.
Kellen Sullivan was the High Point Rider as he finished first in Open Flat and Open Fences and qualified for regionals in Open Fences as well.
Jacob Connell finished first in Intermediate Flat and third in Limit Fences. Hayley Anderson placed fifth in Intermediate Fences.
Zoe Wright-Riley placed second in Limit Fences. Christina Mlynarski, Sues Hardee and Jocelyn Harris all placed first in Limit Flat, with Ella Van Wiel taking second in Limit Flat.
Quinn Kirkpatrick and Ashlyn Keffer each placed first in Novice Flat. Max Davis placed second in Intro Flat in their first horse show.
Goucher equestrian is at home twice next weekend. On Saturday the Gophers will host the final IHSA show of the regular season, while on Sunday Goucher will host the Zone IV, Region I regional championship.
