Brashear Makes 13 Saves, Gophers Fall at Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Senior Devin Brashear (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual) made a season-high 13 saves as the Goucher College field hockey team was fell 3-0 at Stevenson as the Mustangs scored twice late in non-conference action Tuesday night at Mustang Stadium.
- Stevenson's (3-4) Macy Kosanovich scored just 3:11 into the game for the Mustangs.
- Brashear made five saves in the opening frame for the Gophers (0-5).
- Brashear made one save as the Gopher defense held strong, withstanding eight penalty corners by Stevenson.
- Brashear made a save on SU's Rylee Leakway 1:21 into the second half.
- Goucher generated its first penalty corner of the night just over nine minutes into the frame.
- Brashear made two saves in the final minute of the period to keep it a one-goal game.
- Brighid Kowal (Silver Spring, Md./Northwood) put a shot on goal with just over 11 minutes to go but her game-tying bid was stopped by Jamie Fritz.
- Hannah Washburn (Pittsford, N.Y. / Pittsford Mendon) got a shot off on a penalty corner with just over eight minutes remaining but her attempt went wide.
- Kosanovich scored with just under five minutes left for the hosts and Nicole Zielger added an insurance tally with 41 seconds left.
- The Gophers generated a penalty corner right befor time expired.
- Brashear's 13 saves were her most since her freshman season when she posted 19 in her collegiate debut against St. Mary's and 18 at Catholic.
