Eagles Fly Away From Gophers Late

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Juniata College scored a pair of fourth quarter goals to break a 1-1 tie and go on to post a 3-1 Landmark Conference field hockey victory over Goucher College Saturday afternoon at Beldon Field.
- Juniata (3-11, 2-3 Landmark) generated a penalty corner and put a shot on goal in the game's first minute that was saved by Goucher (2-9, 0-4) goalie Julia Foster (Pylesville, Md./North Harford).
- The Gophers has a penalty corner with just under two minutes left in the frame.
- The Eagles had a shot blocked in the final minute of the quarter.
- Foster made her second save of the game 22 seconds into the second period.
- Juniata was awarded a penalty stroke at the game's 21:28 mark, which Kalee Rothermel converted to put the guests up 1-0.
- Goucher earned a penalty corner with just over six minutes left in the first half.
- A shot by Zoe Mikles (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) was saved, followed by a shot off the post by Daryn Carter (Dover, Pa./Dover Area).
- Rylie Belauskas (San Diego, Calif./University City) collected the rebound of the Carter shot and fired it home in a scramble to tie the game 1-1. It was Belauskas' third goal of the season.
- Foster made three saves down the stretch to keep the game knotted 1-1 at intermission.
- Juniata had all three shots in the third quarter, one of which was saved by Foster.
- The Eagles also had a pair of penalty corners.
- Macy Motovidlak (Wittman, Md./St. Michael's) had a shot turned aside by Juniata goalie Brittney McMullen just over two minutes into the final frame.
- Sierra Rossman converted a penalty corner for the Eagles with 7:18 remaining to break the 1-1 tie.
- Juniata kept the pressure up as Foster made two more saves.
- The Eagles added an insurance goal with 3:26 remaining as Tess Ledeboer scored.
- Foster made one final save in the game's final minute.
- Juniata outshot Goucher 21-5 and had a 6-4 advantage in corners.
- Foster registered 10 saves, while McMullen had a pair of stops before being relieved by Amanda Puza with 2:05 left.
- Carter had a pair of shots for Goucher.
