Katie Bloom Earns Landmark Defensive Honors for Second Time
TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College first year field hockey goalie Katie Bloom has been named the Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Bloom, a graduate of Kettle Run High School from Warrenton, Va., posted two shutouts as the Gophers moved to 6-1 with wins over Ferrum (4-0) and Lycoming (3-0). Against the Panthers on Friday Bloom made one save, while she made seven saves in Sunday's conference blanking of the Warriors.
Starting all seven games this season, Bloom currently leads the Landmark Conference in goals-against average (0.69) and save percentage (.884), while she has posted three shutouts on the season.
Goucher is back in action Tuesday night, traveling to Hood College for a 6 pm contest.
