Cardinals Prevail Thanks to .615 Shooting Percentage

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Opponents managed to shoot only 41.2 percent from the field against Goucher during the first 20 games of the 2010-11 season. Only two — Washington (Md.) on November 20 and Drew on January 14 — exceeded 50 percent when they faced the Gophers.

Gophers Do Damage to Rangers' Playoff Seeding

TOWSON, Md. — With all four spots in the Landmark Conference playoffs already spoken for, Goucher could only influence seeding when it hosted Drew tonight. By scoring the final seven points of the game, head coach Leonard Trevino's Gophers pulled out a 63-56 victory that dropped the Rangers into a three-way tie with Catholic and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy for second place.

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher, which prevailed by one point over the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Jan. 15 thanks to a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Marcus Cotton (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook), needed to defeat the Mariners again tonight in order to remain in the chase for the Landmark Conference playoffs.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — In a game in which the two teams were never separated by more than eight points, Goucher came out on top of Moravian, 53-50, this afternoon, making this the third time the Gophers defeated the Greyhounds in Johnston Hall during the four-year existence of the Landmark Conference.

SCRANTON, Pa. — Despite a 23-point performance by freshman guard Colby Giacubeno (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall), Goucher fell to 0-8 all-time against Scranton when the Royals turned back the Gophers, 73-64, in Landmark Conference action tonight.

TOWSON, Md. — Although Goucher never surrendered the lead it was handed when Leroy Williams (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) cashed in a pair of free throws to snap a 21-21 tie with Juniata with 4:41 left to play in the first half, the Gophers had still not managed to put the Eagles away as the game clock first showed less than five minutes remaining in tonight's Landmark Conference contest.

Landmark-Leading Royals Handle Gophers, 70-47

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher didn't pick a particularly good night for its worst shooting effort of the season. The Gophers shot 22.9 percent from the field by going 16-for-70 against Scranton and suffered a 70-47 loss to the Landmark Conference-leading Royals this evening in front of a crowd of 355 in the Decker Sports & Recreation Center.

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher trailed Moravian by 10 points before this evening's Landmark Conference game in the Decker Sports & Recreation Center was even three minutes old. And even though the Gophers narrowed the gap to as few as three points, the Greyhounds came away with an 80-67 victory.

MADISON, N.J. — Goucher, which trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half, seemed to be on the verge of putting Drew away this evening and picking up its first Landmark Conference win of the season when Dorian Green (Baltimore, Md./Cardinal Gibbons) knocked down a jumper to provide the Gophers with a 54-48 lead with 10:46 remaining.

HUNTINGDON, Pa. — Goucher and Juniata finished with identical shooting percentages in this afternoon's Landmark Conference game as both teams were 21-for-49 from the field. The Gophers made six 3-point attempts, two more than the Eagles, and head coach Leonard Trevino's squad was nearly perfect at the free-throw line.

Gophers Get Struck by Lightning, Suffer 70-58 Setback

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher and Lehman were never separated by more than eight points during the first half of their inaugural encounter in the sport of men's basketball tonight, but the Lightning used an early run of eight consecutive points in the second half to open up a 13-point advantage. The Gophers responded with 10 unanswered points and closed to within 44-41 on a layup by spohomore post player Trae Lindsay (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco).

Division II Trio Piles Up Big Numbers Against Gophers

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — There are possibly a few hurricanes that struck this Caribbean island that didn't do as much damage as three players in particular inflicted on Goucher today. Emmanuel Colon, Ruben Rodriguez and Juan Carl Rodriguez combined for 68 points and 28 rebounds in leading Central Bayamon past head coach Leonard Trevino's Gophers, 82-71.
