TOWSON, Md. — After Goucher took its first lead of the game late in the second half, Juniata closed on 21-8 run to head home with an important road conference win.
Juniata (11-5, 3-2 Landmark) opened up with three three-pointers on its way to an 11-2 edge early.
Goucher (5-10, 3-2 Landmark) rallied, cutting the lead to as few as five before settling for a 30-20 deficit at the break.
After the Eagles scored on their first possesssion of the second half, the Gophers went on a 10-0 run to cut the lead to two points.
Once the two teams exchanged baskets, Goucher used an 8-0 run to get its first lead of the game. First Manney Wood (Washington, D.C./C. H. Flowers) made a layup off a pass from Trae Lindsay (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) to cut the lead to two.
After a stop, Richard Harris (Clinton, Md./Surrattsville) converted on both free throws to level the score at 37.
The Gophers finally got on top off of a Julian Livingston (Bowie, Md./Fairmont Heights) bucket, with the lead extended to four by Troy Parker Jr. (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill).
After the teams exchanged points, Livingston kept the pressure on, scoring five straight for the Gophers to give the team its largest lead of the game at seven, but the Eagles stormed back.
A 13-2 run put Juniata back on top for good with 4:01 remaining, with the Gophers forced to foul down the stretch, extending the Juniata winning margin to 60-54.
Even though each of the five starters on the visiting squad reached double digit point totals, the game's leading scorer was Harris with 15.
