Miles Earns Spot on All-Landmark Second Team

TOWSON, Md. — Kevin Miles (District Heights, Md./Gwynn Park), Goucher's top scorer and second-leading rebounder, claimed one of the spots on the 2015-16 All-Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Team, which was revealed this afternoon.

A vote by the conference's nine head coaches placed the senior guard on the All-Landmark second team, where he joined senior Brandon Hedley and junior Steven Weidlich, a pair of guards from Susquehanna, Kevin Herring II, a senior guard from Drew, Brandon McGuire, a junior forward from Moravian, and John Vitkus, a junior center from Scranton.

Vitkus was also selected Defensive Player of the Year.

The All-Landmark first team included Brendan Boken, a senior forward from Scranton, junior Bryson Fonville and sophomore Jay Howard, a pair of guards from Catholic, Mike Klinger, a senior guard from Drew, Marcus Lee, a sophomore forward/center from Juniata, and Josh Miller, a senior guard from Susquehanna.

Boken was the choice of the coaches as 2015-16 Player of the Year.

Oneil Holder from Moravian was named Rookie of the Year; Frank Marcinek and his assistants at Susquehanna were picked as Coaching Staff of the Year.

Miles, who joined Darrin Boswell II (2008-09), Trae Lindsay (2010-11) and Julian Livingston (2013-14) as the only four players from Goucher to earn all-conference honors since the formation of the Landmark Conference, averaged 16.7 points per game this season. He's only the second player in the history of the institution's men's basketball program to score at least 33 points in a game three times during his career.

Miles also averaged 5.2 rebounds per contest and supplied the Gophers with 54 assists, 23 steals and one blocked shot.

"Making All-Landmark is a testament to Kevin's hard work and he very much deserves this honor," according to Tom Rose, who just completed his first year as the head men's basketball coach at Goucher. "I'm honored to have had a chance to coach Kevin, if only for a year.

"This award also reflects well on our program. Opposing coaches took notice of Kevin and the things he did because we were more competitive in the Landmark Conference than we've been in the past."
