BALTIMORE, Md. – Goucher College drops a non-conference men's basketball game to Gwynedd Mercy University on Monday.
Axel Seka (Frederick, Md./Urbana) paced the Gophers with a career-high 11 points after posting a previous best of nine points against Johnson & Wales on November 16.
Pat Goralski (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) added seven points and six rebounds while Josh Lichti (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) tallied five points and six boards in the loss.
Goucher led twice early in the game after Mal Graham (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) scored in the lane at 16:56 for a 6-5 lead and Lichti drained a trey at 16:28 for a 9-6 edge.
Graham registered a career-high six points in his first collegiate start.
With the Griffins holding a 15-14 lead, Gwynedd Mercy went on an 18-2 run to take the lead for good and would go into the locker room with a 40-25 advantage. The Griffins then used a 32-26 second half to earn the 72-51 win.
Goucher opens Landmark Conference play on Saturday against the University of Scranton at 2 p.m. Peter Manlove, a member of the 1994-95 team, will serve as the guest coach for the game.
