Goucher Men's Basketball Shows Support To Raise Awareness During NABC Coaches Vs. Cancer Suits And Sneakers Week
BALTIMORE, Md. – Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers is a nationwide initiative uniting basketball coaches across the country for a common cause – saving lives from cancer. The Goucher College men's basketball coaching staff will not be able to participate with the on-court recognition and awareness of this week in 2020-21, but head coach Tom Rose believes it is an important initiative to raise awareness during the nationwide event running January 25-31.
"Even though our current times are very challenging, we must continue our awareness in the fight against cancer," said Rose. "Regardless if we are competing on the court, the Goucher men's basketball coaching staff proudly joins and supports coaches around the country for Suits and Sneakers Week."
Fans can make a general donation to the American Cancer Society through the National Associate of Basketball Coaches (NABC) website by clicking HERE. Fans can also purchase a Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers t-shirt for $30 with $19-20 of the proceeds going directly to the American Cancer Society by clicking HERE.
This season, Coaches vs. Cancer Suits And Sneakers games will support childhood cancer research, services, and awareness as well as promote cancer prevention efforts targeting children.
Last year, Rose and his assistant coaches Sydney Hines, Ralph Burley and Joey Goodson donned sneakers to go with their usual coaching attire at its road games against Juniata and Moravian during the 2019-20 NABC Coaches vs. Cancer Sneakers and Suits Week.
College and high school coaches across the nation wear sneakers with their suits during dedicated Suits And Sneakers games to support childhood cancer awareness through our Gold Together campaign which raises funds to support childhood cancer research, services and awareness, and cancer prevention efforts targeting children.
This initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs. Since 1993, coaches have raised over $135 million for the American Cancer Society.
