Goucher Athletics Announces Josephine E. Fiske Gopher Pride Male Winners
BALTIMORE, Md. – Omosesan Adebamgbe (Philadelphia, Pa./Lower Merion) and Cam Isaacs (Randallstown, Md./Randallstown) have been named the winners of the Josephine E. Fiske Male Gopher Pride Award. Adebamgbe is a junior on the men's tennis team, and Isaacs is a junior on the men's basketball team.
The Josephine E. Fiske Gopher Pride Award was established in 1986 and is presented annually to one male and one female student in good academic standing who play important roles in the success of their teams. Variables to be weighed in determining the recipients of this award include, but are not limited to: sportsmanship, citizenship, positive attitude, leadership, and service to young adults or children.
"I want to say congratulations to Omosesan Adebamgbe on receiving the Josephine E. Fiske Gopher Pride Award," said men's tennis head coach Eric Spangler. "I think it is a testament to his community engagement at Goucher. He has an intense passion for the game that I love working with, and I am very proud to have him represent our program."
Adebamgbe has a 16-17 record in singles play, and 31-7 in doubles play in his career. He is a two-time all-conference performer in doubles after being named to the second team in 2019 and the first team in 2021, while also receiving a first-team honor in singles in 2021. Also, Adebamgbe is a resident assistant and was on the re-opening committee.
Isaacs has posted 489 points, 110 assists, and 53 steals in two seasons on the hardwood for the men's basketball team. He posted double figures in 25 of his 50 career games, including two 20-point performances. The junior scored the game-winning basket against Catholic in 2019 and on the road at Juniata in 2020.
"Cam, congratulations on being selected as the winner of the Josephine E. Fiske Gopher Pride Award," said men's basketball head coach Tom Rose. "Your accomplishments didn't happen by accident. It is due to your outstanding work ethic, positive attitude, leadership, and ability to make the right play in big moments for your team."
"I want to thank Coach Rose, my teammates, and the rest of the men's basketball coaching staff for allowing me to lead and grow, especially in this tough time," said Isaacs. "I can wait to get back out there next year to put everything to work and pass the culture down."
Along with Adebamgbe and Isaacs, Jared Halverson (Durham, N.C./Charles E. Jordan) (men's lacrosse) and Jackson Penner (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) (men's swimming) were also nominated.
