Sea Gulls Shake Gophers in Second Half

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Salisbury University scored 19 straight points in the second half to break open what had been a close game and went on to post a 93-65 non-conference men's basketball victory over Goucher College in the Pride of Maryland Classic hosted by Stevenson University at Owings Mills Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
- Salisbury (2-3) scored the game's first seven points and opened up an 11-3 lead just over five minutes into the game.
- A three by senior Cam Isaacs (Randallstown, Md./Randallstown) at the 11-minute mark capped a 7-1 Goucher (2-2) run and pulled the Gophers within two, 12-10.
- The Gophers took their first lead of the game, 25-24, with 4:22 left before halftime on another Isaacs triple.
- The lead changed hands twice in the next minute, with a basket by Ryan Conde (Ewing, N.J. / Solebury School) putting Goucher up 27-26 with 3:29 to go.
- The Sea Gulls pushed the lead back to eight, 37-29, before Josh Lichti (Harrisonburg, Va. / Harrisonburg) scored with 10 seconds left to make it 37-31.
- Salisbury went to the locker room with a 39-31 lead.
- Lichti scored 48 seconds into the second half to cut the Sea Gull lead to six.
- Goucher got the lead down to five, 44-39, on an Isaacs three with 15:25 on the clock.
- Salisbury held the Gophers scoreless for nearly four minutes as it used a 19-0 run to build a 63-39 advantage.
- A pair of Lichti free throws with 11:30 on the clock broke the Salisbury run.
- The Sea Gulls took their largest lead, 83-47, with just under six minutes left.
- Isaacs paced Goucher with 14 points, going 4-7 behind the arc.
- Justin Salisbury (Churchton, Md. / Southern) went 3-3 from the floor including two three-pointers and totaled eight points in six minutes off the bench.
- Lichti and Sean Powell (Middle River, Md. / Loch Raven) each added six points.
- Salisbury, which held a 39-26 rebound advantage, shot 58.3% for the game, including 8-20 behind the arc.
- Goucher shot 42.3% overall and was 7-15 from long range.
- Goucher returns to action Tuesday night when it hosts 20th-ranked Roanoke for a 7 pm contest at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
