Gophers Fall in Exhibition Contest at Morgan State

BALTIMORE - Division I Morgan State never trailed as it cruised to a 100-41 men's basketball victory over Goucher College at Hill Field House Wednesday evening. The game was an exhibition contest for the Gophers but counted for the Bears.
- Senior Cam Isaacs (Randallstown, Md./Randallstown) had a pair of three pointers early as the Gophers were tied 6-6 with Morgan State (5-7) early.
- A three by John Dixon (Towson, Md./Loyola Blakefield) cut the Bears' lead to 12-9.
- After Morgan State scored eight straight to make it 20-9, two free throws by Isaacs on an MSU technical followed by two Dixon free throws at the 13:35 mark made it 20-13.
- The Bears shot 56.8% from the floor and made six of 11 three-point attempts as they opened up a 57-16 halftime lead.
- Dixon had Goucher's first field goal of the second half at the 17:40 mark.
- The Gophers had a 15-2 run capped by a basket by Mal Graham (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) with 9:06 remaining.
- Isaacs kicked off the run with a steal and layup at the 13:24 mark and had seven points during the run, while Axel Seka (Frederick, Md./Urbana) had four points including a breakaway layup.
- Adam Abdelrahim (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) had a pair of baskets in the game's waning moments.
- Isaacs led the Gophers with 15 points. He finished 3-6 from three and also had five rebounds.
- Dixon notched seven points while Seka had five.
- 15 players saw the floor for Goucher, with nine of them scoring.
- The Gophers shot 43.5% in the second half, including 3-7 from three, and finished at 29.8% overall. Goucher was also 8-11 at the free throw line.
- The Bears shot 55.7% for the game, were 11-23 behind the arc and 11-15 at the free throw line.
- Morgan State, which outrebounded Goucher 47-19, had five players in double figures led by De'Torrion Ware's 22.
- Morgan State, which opens Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play Saturday, reached the MEAC championship game last season. The Bears had been idle since December 18.
- Goucher returns to Landmark Conference play on Saturday, traveling to Moravian for a 2 pm contest.
- Goucher returns home on Wednesday, January 12 as it hosts Juniata in a 7 pm Landmark Conference contest at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center. Spectators are not permitted at Goucher home sporting events through at least January 29.
