Lichti Nets Career High 20, Gophers Fall to River Hawks

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Junior Josh Lichti (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) put in a career-high 20 points for the Goucher College men's basketball team as the Gophers dropped a Landmark Conference contest to Susquehanna University 68-52 Saturday afternoon at O.W. Houts Gymnasium.
- Susquehanna (12-4, 4-1 Landmark) scored the game's first seven points.
- A Tevin Venson (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) three just under three minutes in were the game's first points for Goucher (3-12, 0-5).
- Cam Isaacs (Randallstown, Md.) knocked down three free throws with 16:00 on the clock to cut the lead to 7-6.
- A 9-2 River Hawk run allowed the hosts to open a 16-8 lead with 11:21 left before halftime.
- After Susquehanna extended its lead to 21-11, the Gophers reeled off eight straight points capped by a steal and layup by Isaacs at the 6:04 mark.
- The River Hawks countered with 13 straight points to go up 34-21 1:43 before the break.
- Isaacs snapped the Goucher scoreless streak with a basket at 1:13.
- Susquehanna took a 38-22 lead into intermission.
- Back-to-back Lichti threes to open the second half cut the River Hawks lead to 10 1:28 in.
- Susquehanna responded with 12 in a row to build a 50-28 lead at the 15:23 mark.
- Goucher scored the next six points with an Isaacs basket making it 50-34 with 14:15 on the clock.
- The Gophers kept chipping away and a Venson three with 7:11 left cut the lead to 13, 57-44.
- A Lichti trifecta with 4:27 left made the SU lead a dozen, 61-49.
- Goucher got the lead down to 12 one more time, on a John Dixon (Towson, Md./Loyola Blakefield) three-point play with 2:18 left that made it 64-52.
- Lichti finished 7-11 from the floor and made all three of his three point attempts as he reached double figures for the ninth straight game.
- Lichti has made his last seven three point attempts over the last three games and is 14-17 (82.3%) behind the arc over his last seven games.
- Isaacs was 5-5 at the free throw line and totaled 17 points. He extended his made free throw streak to 16 straight.
- Venson was 2-4 behind the arc and added seven points.
- Goucher shot 40% overall, was 6-15 behind the arc and 10-14 at the free throw line.
- Susquehanna, which won for the seventh time in eight outings, shot 52.7% overall and 8-24 from long range. The River Hawks held a 34-22 rebound advantage.

- The Gophers return home Monday, hosting Juniata in a 7 pm Landmark Conference contest at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center. Spectators are currently not permitted at Goucher home sporting events.
