River Hawks Pull Away from Gophers on Senior Day

TOWSON, Md. - After leading 33-29 at halftime, visiting Susquehanna pulled away early in the second half for a 74-55 Landmark Conference men's basketball victory over Goucher College Saturday afternoon at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
- Goucher (3-19, 0-12 Landmark) scored the first five points of the game with a three by senior Angad Ahluwalia (Philadelphia, Pa.) and a basket by Octavius Johnson (Houston, Texas/Pasadena Memorial).
- Susquehanna (19-4, 11-1) scored the next six points to take the lead at 16:21.
- The Gophers scored the next four points to lead 10-6 with 13:49 remaining.
- The River Hawks built a 16-12 lead before a three by Mal Graham (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) cut the lead to one just past halfway.
- Back-to-back threes by senior Cam Isaacs (Randallstown, Md./Randallstown) and Will Towne (Alexandria, Va./Deerfield Academy) put Goucher up 23-20 6:47 before halftime.
- The two teams traded threes with an Isaacs triple putting the hosts up 26-23 with 5:36 on the clock.
- Susquehanna held Goucher without a field goal the rest of the half and led 31-27 at the break.
- Susquehanna scored the first 17 points of the second half to go up 48-29 just over six minutes into the second half.
- A layup by Johnson at the 13:22 mark snapped the Gopher drought.
- The River Hawks extended the lead too 55-31 before a Josh Lichti (Harrisonburg, Va.) basket just shy of the halfway mark of the period.
- Goucher trailed by as many as 32 before ending the game on a 17-4 run over the final five minutes of the game.
- Prior to the game, seniors Ahluwalia and Isaacs, along with four-year senior manager DeMya Myrick, were honored.
- Johnson and Isaacs each led the Gophers with 12 points, with Johnson also grabbing a game-high six rebounds.
- John Dixon (Towson, Md./Loyola Blakefield) added 11 points off the bench for the Gophers.
- Goucher shot 41.3% for the game and was 7-16 behind the arc and 10-13 at the free throw line.
- Susquehanna, which won its ninth straight and clinched at least a share of the Landmark regular season title, shot 80% and 59.6% for the game and was 8-17 behind the arc.
- The River Hawks held a 30-20 rebound advantage.

- Goucher plays its final two games on the road, starting with a 7 pm tilt on Wednesday at Juniata.
- The Gophers close out the season next Saturday with a Landmark Conference contest at Drew set for a 2 pm tip.
