Green, Morgan Reach 20 Apiece in Gopher Setback at Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. - Host Cabrini University scored 12 of the game's first 14 points and never looked back as it eased to a 86-60 non-conference men's basketball victory Monday afternoon over Goucher College at Nerney Field House.
- Cabrini (4-6) jumped out to a 12-2 lead five minutes into the contest.
- Goucher (2-8) recorded its first field goal at the 14:41 mark on a basket by Jacob Morgan (Bowie, Md./Bowie).
- A layup by Mal Graham (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) with just under 13 minutes left made it 14-7.
- An 11-0 Cavalier run pushed the hosts' lead to 18, 25-7, midway through the half.
- The Gophers got the lead down to 13, 27-14, on a Tyler Collins (Beltsville, Md./McLean School) free throw with 8:00 on the clock.
- Cabrini outscored 16-4 over the next five minutes to open a 43-18 advantage.
- The Cavaliers led 47-24 at halftime.
- Cabrini extended its lead to 58-30 just over four minutes into the second half.
- A 6-0 spurt capped by a Morgan layup made it 58-36 with 13:32 remaining.
- Goucher continued to chip away and a layup by Darrell Green (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) at the midway point of the second half made it 62-43.
- Leading 66-47 with 7:07 left, the Cavaliers used a 13-4 run to make it 79-51 with just over four minutes to go and put the game away.
- Green led Goucher with a career-best 21 points, going 9-17 from the floor. He reached double figures in scoring for the seventh time this season and also grabbed five rebounds and added a pair of steals.
- Morgan finished 9-11 from the floor and scored 20 points, his third straight game in double figures and seventh of the season.
- Morgan also finished with four steals. He is averaging 3.2 steals per game and entered the day ranked No. 8 nationally in steals per game.
- Graham grabbed a career-best nine rebounds.
- The Gophers shot 42.1% from the floor and were 1-7 behind the arc while going 11-21 at the free throw line.
- Cabrini, which outrebounded Goucher 45-30, shot 47.8% overall and was 11-28 from long range while going 11-13 at the stripe.
- Goucher finished with a 21-14 advantage in fast break points.
- Goucher is back in action Thursday as it travels to Loyola Maryland for a 7 pm exhibition contest. That game can be seen on ESPN+.
- The Gophers are back home Friday, January 13 when they host Drew in a 4 pm Landmark Conference contest at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
