MIller, Dixon Lead Gophers at Morgan State

BALTIMORE - Visiting Goucher College trailed by nine late in the first half, but host Morgan State used a decisive run late in the first half en route to a 89-52 men's basketball victory Wednesday evening at Hill Field House. The game was an official contest for the Bears but an exhibition for the Gophers.
- Morgan State (6-8) scored the game's first nine points.
- The Gophers scored the next five and a conventional three-point play by Jacob Morgan (Bowie, Md./Bowie) just over four minutes in made it 9-5.
- A 15-2 run by the Bears put the hosts up 24-7 midway through the half.
- Goucher countered with an 11-2 run that featured a pair of three pointers by Onterio Miller (Bronx, N.Y./Mott Haven) to pull within nine, 26-17, with just over six minutes to go before halftime.
- Morgan State held the Gophers scoreless the rest of the half as it went into intermission up 49-17.
- A three-pointer and layup by John Dixon (Towson, Md./Loyola Blakefield) in the first minute of the second half cut the lead to 49-22.
- Morgan State scored the next six points before a basket by Josh Lichti (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) at the 15:09 mark.
- A 13-2 Goucher run capped by back-to-back threes by Dixon and Mal Graham (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) made it a 73-44 game with 6:38 remaining.
- Goucher trailed 83-52 at the final media timeout before the Bears closed on a 6-1 run.
- Miller and Dixon paced the Gophers with 13 points apiece. Miller was 5-6 from the floor and connected on all three of his three-point attempts, while Dixon was 5-8 from the floor and also 3-3 from three.
- Darrell Green (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) added eight points while grabbing six rebounds for the Gophers.
- Goucher knocked down seven of its 15 three-point attempts and shot 39% overall for the game.
- Morgan State shot 53% from the floor and was 8-21 behind the arc.
- The Bears held a 44-23 rebounding advantage.
- Goucher and Morgan State met for the second straight season.
- Goucher returns to Landmark Conference action on Saturday when it travels to Juniata for a 4 pm contest.
