Drew Eases Past Gophers

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Drew University raced out to a 37-18 halftime lead and never looked back as it picked up its first Landmark Conference men's basketball victory of the season, downing Goucher College 77-43 Friday afternoon at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
- Drew (9-6, 1-3 Landmark) scored the game's first nine points.
- Goucher (2-11, 0-3) got on the board just over five minutes into the game on a basket by John Dixon (Towson, Md./Loyola Blakefield).
- The Gophers used an 8-3 run to get within four, 14-10, with 10:51 on the clock following two Jacob Morgan (Bowie, Md./Bowie) free throws.
- The Ragners reeled off 14 straight points to build a 28-10 lead with 5:16 left before halftime.
- Back-to-back baskets by Morgan and Josh Lichti (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) halted the Drew run.
- The guests went to the locker room up 19, 37-18.
- Morgan had Goucher's first basket of the second half that made it 41-20 1:35 in.
- Drew opened a 54-27 lead eight minutes into the second half.
- A steal and basket by Mal Graham (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) with 11:17 left halted the Ranger run, but the guests maintained a comfortable advantage the rest of the way.
- Brandon Joseph (Bowie, Md./Annapolis Area Christian) paced Goucher with 12 points and seven rebounds, going 5-9 from the floor.
- Morgan recorded nine points, while Lichti added eight.
- Goucher shot 32% overall, was 1-12 behind the arc, and made six of its 11 free throw attempts.
- Drew, which outrebounded Goucher 45-26, shot 50% overall, was 7-20 behind the arc and made 14-17 at the charity stripe.
